Ayaz Mehdi

Ayaz has a varied litigation practice. His main areas of practice are Family Law, Criminal Law, Corporate and Commercial Litigation, Employment and Civil Litigation including Personal Injury.

Motivated by a desire to practice law consistently and the understanding that every legal matter is unique and hiring a lawyer for some clients could possibly be one of the biggest investments of their life, Ayaz listens carefully to clients and represents them passionately. Ayaz thinks outside the box when it comes to problem solving.

Ayaz comes to MEHDI AU LLP from a boutique personal injury law firm in Toronto, where he focused exclusively on Motor Vehicle Accident Claims and worked on many complex cases. Ayaz has appeared numerous times at Ontario Small Claims Court, Ontario Court of Justice and Superior Court representing Family, Civil and Criminal clients.

Ayaz began his legal career by joining the Edmonton Police Service after law school. He worked at the Headquarters and dealt with Police administrative duties as well as front line operations and learned the anatomy of criminal cases from the first report to arrest and then prosecution. This experience has always played an important role in him providing exceptional service to his Criminal Law clients. After the Police Service Ayaz worked at Edmonton Community Legal Center providing summary legal advice on various poverty law issues including Child Custody, support and Immigration files.

After completing his Honors B.A. majoring in Law from Carleton University in Ottawa, Ayaz attended University of Southampton Law School in England. During Law School Ayaz was on the editorial board of the Southampton Law Review and played as a striker on the Law School’s Soccer team LAW Galaxy. Ayaz obtained a First Class in his First year Moot. Ayaz was on the Dean’s list annually

Ayaz is called to the bar of Ontario and Punjab (Pakistan) and is a member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario and Advocate of the High Court of Punjab.

When Ayaz is not at work he spends most of his time with his Family, he is an avid sports fan and you can find him at global sporting events throughout the year.
